Paula Lewis
Owner Paula Lewis grew up in the culturally and artistically rich Washington, D.C. area. Early influences include her artist mother and frequent trips to her grandparents’ custom upholstery and drapery workroom in Georgetown.
Before finding her passion for design, she studied music and later French at Indiana University, and was fortunate to be able to live and study in France, where the exposure to great art and architecture was invaluable. Earning a Master’s in French, she taught for several years in both college and high school.
Later while living in Chicago, she became a fine art rep, and continued this after a family move to the Jacksonville area. Befriended by several interior designers who encouraged her to join them, she began a career at their small firm. Following ten years of honing her design skills, Del Mar Designs was founded in 1992.
Paula and her excellent design team have a wonderful design studio in Ponte Vedra Beach, with an amazing array of resources. She is known for partnering with many talented artisans and installers, whose expertise and craftsmanship have helped to create wonderful spaces for the clients of Del Mar Designs.
She is a fully licensed Interior Designer in Florida (ID-0004249) and an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ID#1484954). Her work includes many residential and commercial (primarily hospitality and office) projects in the area, as well as in New York and Indiana (golf clubhouses), and private residences in New York, California, Connecticut, and North Carolina.
Her projects have been published in Florida Design, Water’s Edge, Jacksonville Design, ASID Icon, and Florida Homebuyers Magazine.
She has been active in community events benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and the American Cancer Society, and has participated in several designer showhouses for the benefit of the Jacksonville Symphony. She is also an active member of the Ponte Vedra Beach Chamber, Business Network International (BNI), and the Remodeler’s Council.
In the last few years, Paula and her team have been recognized for their work on multiple projects, including seven First Place awards from both ASID and the Remodeler’s Council of the Northeast Florida Builder’s Association.
